Reporting Sexual Assault at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Police will respond promptly to any report of sexual assault that occurs on any Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus. The College has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual assault or abuse in any form. We encourage all students, faculty, and staff who experience sexual assault or abuse on campus to report the incident to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Police immediately.

If the incident occurred off-campus, please report it to the police department in that jurisdiction. For assistance contacting an external police department, call the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Police non-emergency line at 703.764.5000. You can also view Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ's Sexual Misconduct Policy.

What to Do if a Sexual Assault Occurs

If a sexual assault occurs, follow these steps:

  1. Get to a Safe Place: Move to a safe location as soon as possible.
  2. Call 911: Notify the authorities. If the incident occurred on a Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus, contact Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Police at 703.764.5000. College faculty and staff members can assist you in reporting the incident.
  3. Preserve Evidence: Try to preserve all physical evidence. Avoid bathing or changing clothes.
  4. Seek Medical Attention: Get medical help as soon as possible.
  5. Contact a Support Person: Contact someone who can stay with you and provide support.

Sex Offender Registry

The Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act of 2000 requires all colleges to issue a statement advising the campus community where information on registered sex offenders can be obtained. The State Police website provides information about registered sex offenders.
